+++ Hansen wins major order in Mexico for the first time
+++ Order volume over US$ 3.8 million
Munich, 06/20/2007: Hansen Sicherheitstechnik AG (ISIN: DE 000HAST002) was successful in winning a contract in Mexico for the first time in company history. In winning the major contract, whose volume is over US$ 3.8 million, the Company was able to beat out the international competition. The new mining site in the Mexican "Micare" coal mine will be provided with Hansen Sicherheitstechnik AG's explosion-proof electrical equipment. The transformers, switchgear and protective switches will still be delivered in the current 2007 financial year.
With the major order in Mexico, Hansen Sicherheitstechnik was once again able to underscore its internationality and competitiveness. In addition to Poland, Russia, the Czech Republic, Ukraine and South Africa, the Company is now active in Central America as well.
"We were able to gain an additional large customer with the Mexican coal mine "Micare". Once again the quality of our products, which meet the highest international demands, provided a convincing argument. We are hoping to secure long-term follow-on business with this highly promising entry into the Central American market," according to CEO Christian Dreyer.
The Mexican mining company was in the headlines in recent years when a large methane gas explosion cost the lives of several miners. As a result, security precautions were increased substantially. Coal mining in Mexico is concentrated in an area at Piedas Negras ("black stone") in Northern Mexico, near the Texas border. Mexico currently produces about 7 million tons of hard coal per year. Mexican mining management plans to double that figure within the next 10 years.
